Crescent City, FL: On September 30, 2017 at approximately 2:20 am Deputy Josue Garriga was patrolling North Summit and Edgewood Avenue in Crescent City when he observed a gold Honda speeding in the area. After conducting a traffic stop, Deputy Garriga approached the vehicle to speak with the driver and noticed two open containers of alcohol in the center console cup holders. When other deputies arrived on scene Deputy Garriga walked his K9 partner Halo around the vehicle. K9 Halo alerted on the vehicle and a search of the car was conducted. While Hernandez was getting out of the car for the search, a clear plastic bag fell from his waistband to the ground. The bag was found to contain 10 grams of crystal meth and 7 individual baggies of powder cocaine. Hernandez was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and the possession of cocaine with the intent to sell. He was transported to the Putnam County Jail where he was booked and later released on a $10,000 bond.
The passenger in the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Jose Cruz Soliz. It was determined he had an active Federal warrant for the violation of probation on an original charge of smuggling illegal aliens. Soliz was arrested on that warrant and later turned over to The U.S. Marshal’s Service.
