The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Disaster Response Team is a critical part of Putnam County’s response to any man-made or natural disaster. The Disaster response team is self-sufficient and can operate under disaster conditions for extended periods of time without needing additional supplies such as fuel, food or water. The team may be deployed on search and recovery, crime control, traffic control and humanitarian missions in times of disaster. The Disaster Response team remains ready and able to respond both within and outside Putnam County when needed. This team has been called upon to assist throughout Florida and beyond, including an extended deployment to Mississippi in support Hurricane Katrina relief operations in 2005. The most recent deployment for the Disaster Response Team was in Putnam and St. Johns Counties following Hurricane Matthew in 2016.
