Palatka FL: The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has been searching for 38-year-old Randy Robin Kemp Jr. on an active warrant since October of 2017. Deputies nearly apprehended him on Friday, January 12, 2018, when they saw him driving a truck on State Road 17 and attempted a traffic stop. Kemp fled and a short vehicle pursuit ensued before he abandoned the truck and ran into a heavily wooded area of Bostwick. Canine units tracked Kemp until the trail was lost near West River Road. The Sheriff’s Office continued to receive information concerning Kemps’ whereabouts leading deputies to believe Kemp was still in the area.
On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, the Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Kemp was in a motel room at Crystal Cove Marina in Palatka, Florida. Sergeant Nick Vieira, Sergeant Caleb French, Deputy Kyle Simmons and Deputy Christian Maysonet responded to the location where Kemp was located and taken into custody without incident. After his arrest, Kemp was booked on one felony count of fleeing and eluding, two felony counts of assault, one misdemeanor count of hit and run one misdemeanor moving traffic violation and the violation of probation. He is currently being held without the benefit of a bond.
