Ellis Drive Methamphetamine Lab Shut Down
On Tuesday April 8, 2014, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drug / Vice Unit and Special Operations Group executed a search warrant at the residence located at 120 Ellis Drive in Palatka.
The Drug / Vice Unit initiated an investigation after the Sheriff’s Office received several Crimestoppers Tips about drug dealing and use at this residence. The undercover investigation revealed that the resident, Will Augustus Godwin, was manufacturing methamphetamine at this address.
Following the investigation, a search warrant for the premises was issued. On Tuesday morning the SWAT and Rifle Security Teams surrounded the home and ordered the occupants to surrender. Godwin along with Linda Gallagher and Jason Spivey exited the home as ordered and were taken into custody. Deputies then used a robot to search the home for additional suspects and active methamphetamine labs. When no additional suspects or active methamphetamine labs were located, the SWAT team entered the residence to render it safe before members of the Sheriff’s Methamphetamine Lab Response Unit and Drug / Vice Unit Detectives continued their investigation.
Detectives located processed methamphetamine, pills, drug paraphernalia and various items associated with the production of methamphetamine in and around the home. At the conclusion of the investigation Godwin, Gallagher and Spivey were arrested by Drug / Vice Unit Detectives. Godwin was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia, Gallagher was charged with possession of controlled substances and Spivey was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three remain incarcerated at the Putnam County Jail.
